South Korean President Lee Jae-myung says the country must develop its own independent national security.

That comes as confidence in the long-running alliance with the United States declines, partly due to President Donald Trump’s tariff policy. Lee's remarks also follow the expulsion of South Korean workers from the U-S amid the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown.
