Hamas: Netanyahu’s lies at UN speech meant to demonize Palestinians, their legitimate struggle

Hamas has denounced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech at the United Nations General Assembly, saying his downright lies that the Gaza-based resistance movement wants to exterminate Jews are simply meant to vilify Palestinians and their struggle against occupation.

“[Netanyahu’s] claim that Hamas seeks to kill Jews around the world is part of his systematic campaign to demonize the Palestinian people and their legitimate national resistance,” Hamas said in a statement on Friday.

“The Hamas movement and other Palestinian resistance factions have repeatedly affirmed that their battle is confined against the occupation of our lands and holy sites. We will continue on this path until the Palestinian nation achieves its right to self-determination.”

It added that it is ironic that a war criminal wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) is permitted to lecture at the UN on justice, humanity, and rights, while he is the one who violates and breaches them on a daily basis in the Gaza Strip.

Hamas noted that the repeated lies of the 75-year-old leader of the occupying Tel Aviv regime and his blatant denial of the crimes of genocide, forced displacement, and systematic starvation of Palestinians in Gaza will not alter the concrete facts acknowledged by the UN and international organizations.

“Netanyahu’s repetition of his black propaganda and lies regarding the events of October 7 is merely a backward escape, following the collapse of this deceptive propaganda in the face of global public opinion. While the term ‘anti-Semitism’ has become a tattered pretext he uses to justify his rejection of international positions that condemn the genocide and starvation he has been committing for 23 months,” the group added.

Hamas also noted that Netanyahu’s attempts to feign grief for Israeli captives, as well as his absurd display of claiming to address them through loudspeakers, exemplify a sick colonial mentality.

“He alone is responsible for obstructing a deal that guarantees their release, through his insistence on continuing the aggression, his reneging on the agreement signed last January, and his failed attempt to assassinate the negotiating delegation in Qatar, the international mediator,” it said.

“If he were truly concerned about his captives, he would have stopped his brutal bombardment, genocidal massacres, and the destruction of Gaza City. Instead, he lies and continues to endanger their lives.”

The resistance movement underscored that Netanyahu’s false justifications for continuing his aggression on Gaza City, and his claim of the presence of resistance fighters in the targeted buildings, are nothing but a cover to conceal the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed daily against children and defenseless civilians.

“Netanyahu’s announcement of seeking to control the Gaza Strip and install a puppet government therein is pure fantasy that won’t be realized, and our Palestinian people, who have always shown steadfastness and rejection of all forms of guardianship and subordination, will never allow it,” it said.

Hamas concluded that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with al-Quds as its capital, is an inherent, inalienable right, which will not be diminished by the crimes of the occupier nor his fascist policies.

‘Netanyahu must be behind bars instead of taking UNGA podium’

Meanwhile, a senior Hamas official argued that Netanyahu must be kept behind bars instead of being provided with an opportunity to speak from the podium at the world body’s main hall.

Taher al-Nunu, media adviser to the head of the political bureau of Hamas, railed against Netanyahu’s speech, stressing that he is suffering from egotism.

“The interruption of Netanyahu’s speech is one of the manifestations of the Zionist entity’s isolation and the results of the genocide war,” Nunu said.

He also called for an end to the war and punishment of Israel, emphasizing that world leaders are expected to take a moral and humane stance in this regard.

“The Palestinian state will be established by Palestinian, Arab, and international will, regardless of Netanyahu’s objections,” Nunu added.
