Iran begins school year by honoring 34 students killed in Israeli aggression

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei

As the school year begins in Iran, the Foreign Ministry’s spokesman has honored 34 students who lost their lives due to Israel’s unprovoked aggression on the Islamic Republic in June.

In a post on the social media platform X on Tuesday, Esmaeil Baghaei said, “We begin the first day of Mehr [Persian calendar month] this year with the memory of 34 students who were martyred in the attack of the Zionist regime on our homeland.”

He added that the innocent children are dearly missed in the classrooms.

The spokesman wished all students, especially the first graders, and the teachers a prosperous school year, stressing that students are the country’s hope for a better future.

On June 13, Israel launched a blatant and unprovoked act of aggression against Iran, triggering a 12-day war that killed at least 1,064 people in the country, including military commanders, nuclear scientists, and ordinary civilians.

The United States also entered the war by bombing three Iranian nuclear sites in a grave violation of international law.

In response, the Iranian Armed Forces targeted strategic sites across the occupied territories as well as the al-Udeid air base in Qatar, the largest American military base in West Asia.
