The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas says the Israeli regime’s use of explosive-laden and remote-controlled vehicles in the Gaza Strip in an effort to cause extensive destruction and loss of life constitutes a “full-fledged war crime” and “ethnic cleansing.”

Hamas made the remarks in a statement on Saturday, following reports of Israel's use of robots, explosive vehicles, and paratroopers in its ground offensive in Gaza City.

The resistance group went on to say that today, the world is witnessing “horrific crimes” being committed by the regime of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

These crimes are aimed at destroying Gaza City and forcibly displacing its residents through a campaign of massacres and bombardment, using various methods of killing and extermination, with explosive-laden vehicles being among the foremost means employed, it added.

Hamas further called on the international community, as well as Arab and Islamic nations, to intervene immediately to halt these appalling crimes and to take concrete measures to hold “Zionist war criminals” accountable for their atrocities against the people of Gaza and humanity at large.

On Monday, Israel launched a new ground offensive on Gaza City, killing dozens of civilians and burying families under the rubble.

Rights and humanitarian groups have already documented the detonation of nearly 120 vehicles carrying hundreds of tons of explosives in Gaza City's neighborhoods within a single week, describing it as an unprecedented criminal act in human history.

The overnight offensive came only hours after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio put the Trump administration’s full support behind Benjamin Netanyahu in a visit to al-Quds on Monday.

Israel's objective in Gaza City is to displace the population towards the southern areas.

Since August, the Israeli military has utilized over 180 booby-trapped robots and explosive-packed remote-controlled vehicles to cause extensive damage in the city.

The city has witnessed the destruction of over 200 buildings, many of which contained civilian homes.

To capitalize on the operation’s destructive effect, the Israeli military is also deploying armored units into Gaza City, which is already largely devastated.

This month, Israel has issued 13 expulsion orders, almost all of which were aimed at emptying the north of its inhabitants.
