Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian says a “successful” model of cooperation among independent countries, including Iran and Russia, will prove that the era of unilateralism in the world is over.

"We will be able to lead our countries to development and progress without the need for or dependence on unilateral powers,” Pezeshkian said in a meeting with Russian Minister of Energy Sergei Tsivilev and his accompanying delegation in Tehran on Wednesday.

He added that Iran and Russia are determined to implement the agreements previously signed between the two countries in the fields of transportation, energy and power plants, urging both sides’ experts and ministers to make double efforts in this regard.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran is seriously pursuing the implementation of agreements between the two countries …There is no obstacle in the way of Tehran-Moscow cooperation and the implementation of mutual agreements,” Pezeshkian emphasized.

The president expressed hope that the exchange of visits between diplomatic delegations of Iran and Russia will lead to further promotion of ties between the two “friendly and allied” countries.

Tsivilev, for his part, conveyed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s greetings to the Iranian president and expressed satisfaction with constructive bilateral cooperation within the framework of Iran-Russia Joint Economic Commission.

He voiced Russia’s readiness to implement agreements with Iran without any delay, emphasizing that no sanctions or external pressure can impede trade and economic cooperation.

Iran and Russia, as two close and strategic allies, have deepened relations in various fields, despite heavy Western sanctions.
