Iran’s junior Greco-Roman wrestling team has claimed its sixth title at the World Youth Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship in Bulgaria, earning one gold, two silver, and two bronze medals.

According to a report by the Wrestling Federation's public relations, the annual U20 World Wrestling Championships event was held in Samakov, Bulgaria, from August 21 to 24, during which Iran secured first place with an outstanding performance.

Payam Ahmadi won the gold medal for Iran in the 92kg category, while Ahura Boyeri and Mohammad Hadi Seydi claimed silver in the 77 and 97 kg categories.

Additionally, Mohammad Javad Aboutalebi and Abolfazl Fathi Tazangi secured bronze medals in the 63 and 130 kg categories.

In the overall team ranking, Iran claimed the top spot with 117 points, followed by Armenia with 98 points and Azerbaijan with 90 points.

The championship marked the sixth to be won by Iran.

Iranian Greco-Roman wrestlers had earned their last major honor in the 2024 World Championships in Jordan in August, securing three gold and three bronze medals to claim the world title.
