Sudanese start reconstructing damaged buildings in the capital, Khartoum, which has been ravaged by more than two years of war.
"We are working to restore the state's infrastructure," says Mostafa Awad, a member of a youth initiative.
The war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) began in the heart of the capital in 2023, quickly tearing the city apart. The army-aligned government has begun the slow trudge to reconstruction, despite the war still raging in other parts of the country. It has put the cost at $700 billion nationwide, with Khartoum alone accounting for around half of that.
