Mohammad Mokhber, an aide to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, conveyed Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei’s message of condolence to the family of the martyred nuclear scientist Fereydoun Abbasi.

According to Mokhber, the visit to the honorable family of the martyred scientist was held following the repeated emphasis and special attention of the Leader.

“As a representative of His Eminence, I convey his greetings, condolences, gratitude, and deep respect to you, the honorable family,” he said.

“Martyr Abbasi, with his knowledge and faith, broke through the barriers created by sanctions and threats, demonstrating that Iranian youth can conquer the peaks of science by relying on their faith and expertise,” Mokhber stated on behalf of the Leader.

“As this noble martyr himself declared, nuclear knowledge has now proliferated, and the path of Martyr Abbasi is being vigorously pursued today by revolutionary and knowledge-seeking youth. The enemy must understand that terror and threats will not weaken the will of this nation,” he added.

Martyr Abbasi was born in 1958 in Abadan. He was a full professor of nuclear physics and one of Iran’s most prominent scientific and national figures.

His scientific expertise encompassed sensitive and strategic fields, including nuclear physics, isotope separation, radiation dosimetry, particle accelerators, and plasma focus systems.

As one of the founders of the Iranian Nuclear Society, Dr. Abbasi held several leadership roles, such as former head of the Physics Faculty at Imam Hossein University and head of the Laser Research Center at Malek Ashtar Industrial University.

In addition to his academic achievements, Dr. Abbasi served in key executive positions, including Vice President of Iran and Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran from 2011 to 2013.

In his capacity as Vice President and Head of the Atomic Energy Organization, Dr. Abbasi played a vital role in the advancement of Iran’s nuclear program.

Because of his prominent role in Iran’s nuclear endeavors, Dr. Abbasi was subjected to draconian sanctions by the UN Security Council in 2007.

In November 2010, he survived an Israeli terrorist assassination attempt in Tehran involving a magnetic bomb, an attack that coincided with the assassination of another nuclear scientist, Dr. Majid Shahriari.

He was martyred in an airstrike by Israel on June 13, 2025.
