Iran, Pakistan reach good agreements to promote ties: FM Amir-Abdollahian
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian says Iran and Pakistan have reached "very good" agreements to promote relations in various sectors and serve the two countries' interests.
Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in a phone call with Pakistani Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Sunday ahead of a planned visit by Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi to Pakistan.
The Iranian foreign minister commended great efforts made by the Pakistani government to make the necessary arrangements for Raeisi's official visit.
Tehran and Islamabad enjoy historical affinity and commonalities in various cultural, social and religious fields which are considered a valuable asset in mutual relations, the top Iranian diplomat emphasized.
The Pakistani foreign minister, for his part, said President Raeisi's trip to Pakistan will be a turning point in relations between the two neighboring and Muslim countries.
Amir-Abdollahian and Ishaq Dar also discussed developing relations between the two countries and issues of common concern in the region.
Heading a high-ranking politico-economic delegation, Raeisi will leave Tehran for Islamabad on Monday for an official two-day visit.
The Iranian president plans to hold talks with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his Pakistani counterpart Asif Ali Zardari and attend a joint session of the two country's high-ranking delegations.
