Over 20 killed in bombing blamed on Daesh in Afghanistan
At least 21 people have been killed and 50 others injured in a bomb attack in Afghanistan’s southern city of Kandahar.
The bombing was carried out at about 08:00 a.m. local time (03:30 GMT) on Thursday at a bank in the city center, the Taliban said.
It was at a specific location where Taliban government staff was lining up to collect their monthly pay slips.
“So far 21 dead and at least 50 people injured from the explosion have been brought in,” a doctor from Mirwais hospital, the region's largest, told the BBC on the condition of anonymity.
There has been no claim of responsibility for the bombing.
But the Taliban’s interior ministry stated that the explosion was carried out by the Daesh terrorist group.
Kandahar serves as the stronghold of the Taliban, acting as the headquarters for their supreme commander.
