The United States says it has launched airstrikes on 85 targets in Iraq and Syria, killing at least 16 people in Iraq, and claiming that the airstrikes were in response to drone attacks on its troops in Jordan.
Iraq has condemned US strikes as violation of its sovereignty. Iran has also condemned US strikes, calling them another strategic mistake that intends to serve Israeli interests, and results in regional instability.
