Peru cracks down on animal selfies

Peruvians rescued animals such as alpacas and llamas from the streets of Cusco on Thursday (October 5), as part of a crackdown on animal selfies that officials say are detrimental to the animals.

Tourists often pay to get a selfie with the country's famed animals. But officials say many of the animals are kept under the harsh sun without food and water.

Six alpacas and llamas, and four sheep were rescued during the operation.

Authorities have vowed to keep up efforts against paid animal selfies in Cusco.
