A shooting attack in the heart of the Israeli coastal city of Tel Aviv has killed one man, police say, amid rising tensions in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The incident reportedly took place on the city’s Montefiore Street on Saturday.

The Israeli police claimed that the attacker had been "neutralized," urging citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

The police said the 40-year-old man was lying unconscious, with no pulse and no breathing when they arrived at the scene, adding that he was transferred to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The latest development came a day after Israeli military forces shot and killed a Palestinian teenager at point-blank range in the northwestern sector of the West Bank.

Israeli forces launch raids on various cities of the West Bank almost on a daily basis under the pretext of detaining what it calls “wanted” Palestinians. The raids usually lead to violent confrontations with residents.

Over the past months, Israel has ramped up attacks on Palestinian towns and cities throughout the occupied territories. As a result of these attacks, dozens of Palestinians have lost their lives and many others have been arrested.

More than 200 Palestinians have been killed this year in the occupied Palestinian territories and the besieged Gaza Strip. The majority of these fatalities have been recorded in the West Bank.
