For the first time since the 1980s, the United States has deployed a nuclear-armed ballistic missile submarine to South Korea.

Thats as the allies launched talks to improve nuclear coordination between the two countries and boost military readiness against North Korea.

Pyongyang has slammed the move, warning it will only dim the chances for negotiations.
