Arab normalization with Israeli regime led to storming of Al-Aqsa: Analyst

The Israeli regime is attacking Al-Aqsa Mosque because some Arab countries and Turkey have tried to normalize relations with the regime which has paved the way for such aggression, according to a commentator.

Elijah Magnier, a journalist and political analyst, in an interview with Press TV’s Spotlight program aired on Wednesday, said the condemnation of Ben-Gvir's visit by some Arab countries means nothing when they have normalized their relations with Israel.

On Tuesday, far-right Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir stormed the holy al-Aqsa Mosque through the Moroccan Gate, also known as the Mughrabi Gate, in a move the Palestinians called an “unprecedented provocation".

“United Nations is controlled by Western countries and there are over 178 UN resolutions against the Israeli aggression, against the Israeli crimes against humanity and all these have been disregarded by Israel and by the international community,” Magnier stated.

“So if the Emirates is condemning or asking for a meeting of the UN Security Council, what is going to come out of this meeting? Country leaders, journalists, analysts, and observers understand very well that is not going to lead to anything and is not going to stop the Israeli violation.”

The Palestinian leadership has strongly condemned the intrusion of Israel’s far-right minister into the al-Aqsa Mosque in the occupied Old City of al-Quds, warning that the violation of international law, as well as the historical status quo of the site, could trigger a "religious war".

“We call on the international community to act urgently and halt the impending explosion of the situation in the Palestinian territories, and the grave threats that Israeli crimes and violations pose to international peace and security,” Palestinian leadership said in a statement on Wednesday, as quoted by official media.

A group of Jordanian lawmakers on Wednesday carried a motion urging the government to expel the Israeli ambassador to Amman to protest Israeli crimes against Palestinians and Ben-Gvir’s desecration of al-Aqsa Mosque.

The legislators also urged Arab and international parliaments to immediately take action against Israeli violations and called for revoking the nation's peace treaty with Israel.

Magnier stressed the condemnation by countries like Saudi Arabia has no results since they are getting closer to the regime in Tel Aviv.

“In the Israeli regime, there are the far right and the far far right that is leading the country, it means that there are no moderates in the regime, there are only far-right people who try to race among each other who's going to kill more Palestinians,” he asserted.

“Ben-Gvir wants to use the most horrible measures against the Palestinians to push them out of their territory, their own country, that is the objective of Ben-Gvir and this is why the Americans just to fake their concern about democracy."

Ben-Gvir was sworn in as Israeli minister of "security" last week, as part of the occupying regime’s new far-right cabinet, led by Benjamin Netanyahu.

Hardline Israeli legislators and extremist settlers regularly storm the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in the occupied city, which infuriates Palestinians.

Such mass settler break-ins almost always take place at the behest of Tel Aviv-backed temple groups and under the auspices of the Israeli police in al-Quds.

The al-Aqsa Mosque compound, which sits just above the Western Wall plaza, houses both the Dome of the Rock and the al-Aqsa Mosque.
