Fireclay is a refractory material with numerous uses in various industries including the construction sector. This mineral can be found in two major deposits in Fars and Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari provinces, holding nearly 400 million tonnes of proven fireclay reserves combined.
Fireclay can withstand extremely high temperatures without losing its original properties. Thats why it is particularly useful in making items like tiles, ceramics ware, firebrick and other construction materials. It is also used in production and refinery facilities in equipment such as furnaces for making coke, iron, and steel. Last year Iran produced double the amount of construction material it needed for domestic use, therefore it was able to export some $10 billion worth of construction materials. Tile, glass, ceramics exports accounted for some $3 billion worth of the countrys these total exports.
