Saudi-Israeli relations

Former US president Donald Trump sponsored the so-called Abraham Accords between Israel, the UAE, and Bahrain promising peace nearly two years ago. Sudan and Morocco followed suit. Since then, Saudi Arabia has been the silent party and the virtual signatory on the normalization process waiting for the right moment to make its decision public.

But it seems like the two sides are showing their tendencies for normalization more overtly as Israeli president has openly stated his intention to visit the kingdom for normalization of ties. Reports say Israeli private plane has landed in Riyadh day after Israeli president Herzoc called for normalizing ties. This, as Saudi Crown Prince has recently described Israel as a potential ally.

In this edition, Spotlight interviews Kevin Barrett author and Middle East expert from Madison and Brian Terrell political commentator and peace activist from Maloy, Iowa, to discuss why both Tel Aviv and Riyadh are beating the drums of normalization at this point in time, and also to shed light on different aspects of the normalization plan.
