Irans Islamic Revolution came about greatly in response to US influence in this country.
This is not to say America was the greater evil in the league of successive modern world powers. But it was the power running the show in this country, going by a bitter comment by a US diplomat.
It was days after Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini returned to Iran in February 1979, and demonstrators briefly attacked the US embassy in Tehran. As he prepared to leave the country, the Americans said, We used to run this country, …now we dont even run our own embassy.
