Islamic and national forces in the Gaza Strip held a demonstration in front of Red Cross headquarter in solidarity with Palestinian prisoners held under administrative detention in Israeli jails.
The protest comes as hundreds of inmates have already boycotted Israel’s military court, demanding an end to its illegal administrative detention. About 500 administrative detainees began the New Year by refusing to show up for their court sessions.
The boycott of Israel's military court by Palestinian inmates comes as the health of a Palestinian hunger striker Naser Abu Humaid is deteriorating. He has been in a coma for 11 days while in custody. Palestinian factions say the intentional medical negligence practiced by Israeli regime aims at killing the Palestinian prisoners.
Public protests are mounting day by day against Israel's decision not to release Naser Abu Humaid. Palestinians say they will hold Israel accountable if the inmate dies.
About 500 Palestinian detainees are refusing to show up for their court sessions, saying that the move is aimed at putting an end to the illegal Israeli administrative detention policy. They are also demanding the release of hunger-striking prisoner Naser Abu Humaid who is on the verge of death.
