Go to Hell Shell

South Africans are calling on the government to withdraw its permission to Shell oil for a seismic survey along the country’s pristine Wild Coast region.

This area is home to some of the country's most undisturbed marine life and a major source of income for locals. Last December protestors gathered in Cape Town and chanted slogans against Shell, an Anglo-Dutch multinational oil and gas company.

This week we are focusing Shell’s move to create a 3D model of offshore oil and gas reserves by using seismic waves in South Africa’s Wild Coast region. Environmentalists say the operation will not only affect marine creatures, but also fishing communities on the Wild Coast “whose livelihoods depend on the marine life.

In the second part of our program we shall talk about Zimbabwean health professionals who are leaving their country amid the COVID-19 pandemic to work in the United States, Britain, Australia, and neighboring countries.
