NBA: Brooklyn Nets down Dallas Mavericks 102-99

Over the NBA news, the Brooklyn Nets have rallied late in Dallas to defeat the Mavericks 102-to-99.

The hosts cut Brooklyn’s defense, and dominated the first half. The Eastern Conference-leaders looked dead and buried, but Kevin Durant went in rampage mode to outscore the Mavs and help his team erase a 17-point third-quarter deficit.

Luka Doncic tallied 28 points but had another rough night from the 3-point range and with 20 seconds to go, missed from beyond the arc to save the Mavericks.

Brooklyn got away with a 3-point lead and handed Dallas their 5th consecutive home-loss. Durant and James Harden combined for 45 points to make up for Kyrie Irving’s absence. Next, Dallas will meet Memphis, whereas Brooklyn will entertain Houston, both on Wednesday.

Elsewhere at the Staples Center, LeBron James shone for the Lakers, as they eased past the Boston Celtics 117-102, in their second matchup of the season.

The visitors got off to a better start, leading by 8 points after the first quarter of play, but from then on, the Lakers regained control. Jason Tatum poured in a game-high 34 points for Boston.

But, “King” James had all the answers and took revenge with 30 of his own. Russell Westbrook added another 24, paving the way for a comfortable Lakers home-victory. Next up for the Lakers is a meeting with the Memphis Grizzlies, on Friday. Boston will go on to face the Clippers, on Thursday.
