Fox News and weekend host Rachel Campos-Duffy have been urged to apologize to US First Lady Jill Biden over harsh criticism due to the chaotic withdrawal of American force from Afghanistan.

Michael LaRosa, Jill Biden's press secretary, also reacted to suggestions that Jill Biden is responsible for her husband’s mental state.

"This is disgusting," said LaRosa. @RCamposDuffy and @FoxNews know better. They can do better and their viewers deserve better. I hope they'll apologize to the First Lady and leave this kind of talk in the [trash] where it belongs."

The US president is coming under unprecedented pressure over evacuation of American forces in personnel as Taliban consolidates power in the war-ravaged country.

“I think she failed the country as well,” the weekend host said. “When you look at what’s hurting America, when you look at this lack of leadership, and you wonder, who are the people responsible for putting someone this incompetent and frankly this, you know, mentally frail in this position?… I’m sorry, as a political spouse, I can’t help but look at Jill Biden ... No one knew better his state of mind than Dr. Jill Biden."

By targeting the first lady, the weekend host is taking the GOP's criticism of the Biden administration to a whole new level.

The US president is facing a global and bipartisan outcry over the US hasty pullout of troops from Afghanistan and the return of Taliban to power.

Undermining Biden’s mental state and highlighting his old age have been go-to technics by Republicans to criticize the Democratic president.
