Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh has denounced the ongoing killing of Palestinian youths and children by Israeli forces in the occupied territories, demanding international protection for people living under the Tel Aviv regime’s continued occupation.

The Palestinian premier made the remarks during the weekly cabinet meeting in Ramallah on Monday, after Israeli forces stormed the city of Jenin in the occupied West Bank at dawn, and shot dead four Palestinians at a refugee camp, Palestine’s official Wafa news agency reported.

Following the incident, Shtayyeh called on the United Nations and international humanitarian organizations to condemn this “outrageous crime” and provide international protection to Palestinians amid Israel’s ongoing violent clashes with the people living in the occupied territories.

He further warned against the repercussion of Israel’s policies of murder, ethnic cleansing, demolition of homes, and appropriation of land and property, which has escalated recently, stressing that these matters will be raised with the International Criminal Court (ICC) to add them to the documentation of Israeli crimes against Palestinians.

Throughout the years, Israel has frequently demolished Palestinian homes, claiming that the structures have been built without permits, which are nearly impossible to obtain.

The Tel Aviv regime even orders the Palestinian owners to tear down their own homes or pay the demolition costs to the municipality.

At the same time, Israel has expanded its settlements in the occupied territories.

The demolitions and evictions carried out by Israeli authorities are seen as part of efforts to forcibly displace the Palestinians and change the demographic character of the occupied territories.

Israel also repeatedly destroys houses of Palestinians whom it accuses of involvement in attacks on its forces as part of its punitive measure program, which has been strongly denounced by Palestinians and human rights advocates across the world.

Israel occupied East al-Quds, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip during the Six Day War in 1967. It later had to withdraw from Gaza but has been occupying the other territories since.

More than 600,000 Israelis live in over 230 illegal settlements built since the 1967 Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and East al-Quds.

All Israeli settlements are illegal under international law as they are built on occupied land.

The UN Security Council has condemned Israel’s settlement activities in the occupied territories in several resolutions.

On May 10, Israel's plans to force a number of Palestinian families out of their homes at the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of East al-Quds and its violent raids on worshipers at al-Aqsa Mosque prompted Palestinian retaliation that was followed by a brutal Israeli bombing campaign against the besieged Gaza Strip. About 260 Palestinians were killed in the 11-day Israeli offensive.

Under Washington’s protection, Tel Aviv has escaped all attempts at holding it accountable for its occupation of the Palestinian territories and bloodshed of Palestinians.
