US Democrats adopt a harsher tone after Israel aggression on Palestinians

Democratic politicians inside the United States are ramping up attacks against Israel in the wake of the regime’s military aggression on Palestinians.

“The Palestinian people deserve rights and freedom, not the daily repression of Israel’s ongoing military occupation,” said Minnesota Democratic Representative Betty McCollum in a tweet on Sunday.

Israel launched a devastating bombing campaign on Gaza on May 10 after harassment of Palestinians in Jerusalem al-Quds and attempts to steal their lands in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of the city.

The occupying regime announced a unilateral ceasefire on Friday, which was accepted by the Palestinian resistance groups in the besieged Gaza Strip.

McCollum asserted that “a ceasefire temporarily halts Hamas rockets and Israeli missile strikes, but this isn’t peace,” further promoting her anti-Israel bill in the lower chamber of US Congress.

McCollum’s legislation prohibits Israel from using US taxpayer dollars in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem al-Quds for the military detention, abuse, or ill-treatment of Palestinian minors inside Israeli military detention.

It also bans supporting the seizure and destruction of Palestinian property and homes in violation of international humanitarian law or extending any assistance or support for Israel’s unilateral annexation of Palestinian territories.

Some organizations have thrown their support behind the legislation, namely the Adalah Justice Project, the Human Rights Organization for Palestine, as well as the American Muslims for Palestine among others.
