Priti Patel wants US neo-Nazi group Atomwaffen Division outlawed

The Atomwaffen Division believes terrorism will trigger the collapse of society as prelude to the emergence of "white" ethno-states

Home Secretary, Priti Patel, is seeking to proscribe an American neo-Nazi group as a terrorist organization in the UK.

The Atomwaffen Division (AWD), which is linked to five murders in the US, reportedly has a strong influence among the far-right community in the UK.

Early last month the Australian government announced its intention to ban the Sonnenkrieg Division (SKD), which is regarded as one of the satellite groups of AWD.

The British government will list National Socialist Order as a formal alias of AWD, as it has been officially assessed to be the same organization.

AWD is set to become the fourth far-right terror organization to be proscribed in the UK, alongside National Action, Sonnenkrieg Division and the Feuerkrieg Division.

British prosecutors have implicated the AWD in a number of disrupted terror operations, including the youngest person convicted of planning a terrorist attack in the UK.

If, as expected, Parliament approves the government action, the AWD will be added to the UK’s official list of Proscribed Terrorist Organizations, which includes more than 70 international terrorist organizations, in addition to 14 Northern Ireland-based groups.

The move against AWD and its satellite groups unfolds against the backdrop of the rise of far-right terrorism as the main terror threat to the UK.

In the last two years, seven people have been charged with planning terror attacks inspired by right-wing ideologies, as opposed to only four people who were inspired by so-called “Islamist” ideologies.
