Inhumane conditions at US President Joe Biden administration's migrant detention center has been documented by Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) as officers tried to block his camera.

The video was published Sunday showing the detention facility in Donna, Texas packed with refugees wrapped in foil blankets with no social distancing amid the COVID-19 pandemic as the officers attempted to get Cruz to stop recording.

“Please give dignity to the people… Please respect the people,” said an officer, who stood in front of the camera, prompting Cruz to question, “Is this dignity and respect? Look at these people, there's a pandemic.”

The senator said, “You were instructed to ask us to not have any pictures taken here because the political leadership at Department of Homeland Security does not want the American people to know it,” adding, “This is a dangerous place and your policies are unfortunately trying to hide them.”

Cruz said the officer was “a political operative from DC” sent by President Biden to stop Americans from seeing the conditions of the facility.

Just two months into office, President Biden has come under fire for handling a growing refugee crisis along the southern border with Mexico.

Washington has been contending with holding and processing an increasing number of unaccompanied children, who have been stuck in prison-like border stations for days.

Biden had already opened detention centers, used by his predecessor Donald Trump, to lock up hundreds of refugee children — a move the Democrat had criticized as former president’s “zero tolerance” immigration policy.

Shocking images circulated on social media earlier this month, showing packed border holding cells, where refugee children rested on side-by-side floor mats in a detention facility

Last week, the president blamed former president Donald Trump’s immigration policies, but acknowledged that “it is our responsibility to deal with it humanely and to stop what is happening.”

Biden stands accused of inciting a chaotic migrant rush on the US border with Mexico after he vowed to unwind many of the immigration policies of former president Donald Trump when he assumed office in January.

Republicans ripped Biden for undoing Trump’s policies, saying he created the border chaos with a "naive immigration stance."

Biden’s fellow Democrats also criticized his administration for using notorious Trump-era detainment facilities in Texas to keep migrant children as they had used the issue of detainment facilities to accuse Trump of putting “kids in cages.”

Trump hit out at Biden over the border migrant crisis, predicting that, "They will be coming up by the millions."

The former US president had earlier accused Biden of inspiring a "spiraling tsunami" at Mexico border, saying Biden’s reversal of his immigration policies led to "mass incursion" into the United States.
