ICC ruling on Israel
The International Criminal Court, headquartered at the Hague, has announced it will expand its territorial jurisdiction to include the Palestinian territories illegally occupied by Israel since 1967.
This decision, which has caused outrage among Israel and its allies, clears the way for ICC Chief Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda to possibly investigate potential war crimes carried out by Israel during the 2014 war in Gaza (Operation Protective Edge), as well as the killing and maiming of Palestinian protesters during the right to return marches in 2018-2019, and the building of illegal Israeli settlements in occupied Palestine.
