Iran launches largest CNG cylinders factory in West Asia

The Islamic Republic of Iran is following the implementation of a program to turn public vehicles into dual-fueled cars.
Right now, the country has almost 4 million dual-fueled cars. The Iranian Oil Ministry considers CNG as the national fuel; therefore, the government has it on the agenda to increase the share of this fuel in the country's energy basket.
We attended the inauguration ceremony of a factory in Qazvin Province, where, for the first time, the CNG cylinders are produced domestically. A number of high ranking officials also attended the opening ceremony.
As the managers said the factory is ready to export its productions to the neighboring countries as well.
The Asia Pacific region leads the world with nearly 7 million of CNG vehicles including China, Iran, India, etc. The Latin America with over 4 million comes next. In Latin America, almost 90% of these vehicles have bi fuel engines, allowing these vehicles to run on either gasoline or CNG.
Other countries where natural gas-powered cars are popular include Australia, Argentina, Germany, and Greece.
Before the launch of this factory, Iran was importing the cylinders for its natural-gas powered vehicles, but now with the opening of the factory, which is the largest in west Asia, the country can produce up to 250,000 CNG cylinders every year.
