No election fraud on a scale to change outcome: Trump’s AG

US Attorney General Bill Barr says there was no fraud in the US presidential election in a magnitude that could change the outcome.

Barr made the comments in an interview with the Associated Press while President Donald Trump was still refusing to concede defeat in the 2020 presidential election.

"To date, we have not seen fraud on a scale that could have affected a different outcome in the election," said the Trump loyalist.

US Attorney General William Barr has asked federal prosecutors to look into "substantial" allegations of irregularities in the disputed presidential election.

The Republican politician asserted that there was no systemic fraud to change the results in favor of now President-elect Joe Biden.

"There’s been one assertion that would be systemic fraud and that would be the claim that machines were programmed essentially to skew the election results," Barr said. "And the DHS [Department of Homeland Security] and DOJ [Department of Justice] have looked into that, and so far, we haven’t seen anything to substantiate that."

Trump attorneys Rudy Giuliani and Jenna Ellis, meanwhile, slammed the department for not thoroughly vetting their claims of irregularities in "at least six states."

A new US execution rule, which goes into effect on December 24, gives the lame-duck president days before Joe Biden takes office.

“With all due respect to the attorney general, there hasn’t been any semblance of a Department of Justice investigation," they said. "Again, with the greatest respect to the Attorney General, his opinion appears to be without any knowledge or investigation of the substantial irregularities and evidence of systemic fraud.”

According to a report in The New York Times, Giuliani has himself discussed receiving a presidential pardon from Trump.

"Rudy Giuliani has responded that this report is false and such a conversation never happened. That should clarify the situation. It is just another false attack," Giuliani attorney Robert Costello told The Hill.
