US President Donald Trump is pressuring his long-time ally at the Justice Department to investigate Hunter Biden before 2020 election.

“We have got to get the attorney general to act. He’s got to act and he’s got to act fast," Trump
told Fox News on Tuesday.

The Republican nominee who is running against former Vice President Joe Biden referenced a New York Post report about his son’s business dealings, urging Barr to “appoint somebody”for the investigation into Hunter Biden.

"This is major corruption and this has to be known about before the election,” Trump said.

With the November 3 election approaching, Trump appears to be pushing a cabinet member to investigate a political opponent as he trails behind Joe Biden across the nation, according to the latest polls.

“Certainly, the FBI should be investigating it because, on its face, he’s guilty as can be,” Trump told reporters earlier.

The New York Post article relies on emails allegedly found on a laptop left at a computer repair shop in the US state of Delaware.

Bill Barr, who is serving as Trump’s attorney general, has reportedly refused to launch an investigation into the matter.

Trump has been publicly chastising some of his most loyal cabinet members amid the fight to win reelection during a pandemic that keeps claiming lives in the United States.

The president has suggested that Barr’s refusal is because he is a “very nice man and a very fair man.”
