Solar panel farms are cropping up in Iran which is aiming to shift to renewable energy, according to the country's West Asia News Agency (WANA).

WANA reports that solar panel farms are emerging in several Iranian cities as well as solar energy equipment in people's homes.

Kerman province, in the eastern part of the country, is one of the regions with large potential for renewable energy production.

Masoud Rashidinejad, senior adviser at Mokran solar farm, said it was an opportunity for investment to come to Iran.

The country's electricity distribution organization also introduced a system to help Tehran residents save on power costs.

In certain areas in the country, the sun shines 300 days a year, making those regions well-suited for producing solar energy, according to WANA.
