Trump doctor says cannot give timetable for release from hospital

US President Donald Trump’s doctor says he cannot give any timetable for his release after he was flown to a military hospital for COVID-19 treatment on Friday.

White House doctor Sean P. Conley told reporters that Trump was “doing very well” and was fever-free at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center near Washington on Saturday.

Doctor Conley added that the president had mild coughing and fatigue on Friday, but has made progress during his presence in the hospital.

Doctor Conley told reporters outside the hospital that the president had not experienced difficulty breathing, and had not been given supplemental oxygen.

“The team and I are extremely happy with the progress the president has made,” Conley said.

Other physicians said Trump has received multi-disciplinary care and is not on oxygen anymore. They, however, refused to set a date for discharging the president from the hospital.

Doctors said Fist Lady Melania Trump did not need hospitalization and was being treated at home.

But a source familiar with Trump’s situation said some of the president’s vital signs over the last 24 hours were very concerning, and the next two days will be critical in terms of his care, Reuters reported.

The source, who requested not to be named, said the next 48 hours will be critical in terms of Trump’s care.

Trump, who is 74-year-old, is 90 times more likely to die from the virus complications than someone between the age of 18 and 29, according to CDC.

Trump said on Twitter on Saturday that he was feeling well with the help of the doctors and nurses.

“Doctors, Nurses and ALL at the GREAT Walter Reed Medical Center, and others from likewise incredible institutions who have joined them, are AMAZING!!!,” Trump said.

“Tremendous progress has been made over the last 6 months in fighting this PLAGUE. With their help, I am feeling well!”

Trump was taken to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Friday less than 24 hours after testing positive for COVID-19.

The White House said the decision to transport Trump to the military hospital was taken “out of an abundance of caution.”

It said Trump was feeling fatigued but in good spirits.

"This is serious," a source told CNN on Friday, saying that Trump was "very tired, very fatigued" and claimed that his condition was much more severe than Melania Trump's.

Trump announced on Thursday night that he and his wife Melania had tested positive for COVID-19 and were going into quarantine, just a month ahead of the presidential election.

Trump is at a high risk for a severe infection due to his advanced age and being overweight, according to reports.
