Iran Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami says Iran and Russia have been spearheading a joint effort to counter the bullying policy of the US over the past years.

In a meeting with his Russian counterpart in Moscow, Hatami also praised the Russian government for its constructive policies over the past months particularly its opposition to US measures against Iran at the United Nations Security Council and expressed confidence that their cooperation will help resolve the regional problems.

For his part, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu called for expansion of regional cooperation to ensure peace and stability. He noted that despite the difficult situation under the coronavirus pandemic, Iran-Russia ties remain quite strong.

The Iranian defense minister traveled to Moscow, heading a high-ranking military delegation. Hatami also participated at the 6th edition of International Military-Technical Forum, dubbed ‘Army-2020’, attended by 120 official delegations from around the world.

Organized by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, it is a major exhibition in Russia in the field of advanced technologies, armament, military equipment for armed forces and security agencies.

ARMY-2020 will remain underway till August 29 at Kubinka Air Base, Alabino Military Training Grounds.

Tehran and Moscow have formed an alliance in recent years supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s legitimate government against foreign-backed militancy.

Cooperation between Iran and Russia in defense area is gaining momentum and the two sides have already made significant achievements in the fields of technology and military.
