US continues to display arrogance in Harry Dunn case
The United States government has effectively ruled out extraditing the culprit responsible for the death of Northamptonshire teenager Harry Dunn.
A US State Department spokesperson has described the UK’s extradition request as “highly inappropriate”.
The strong reaction from the US State Department came in the wake of British Home Secretary Priti Patel’s formal extradition notice to the US Justice Department for Anne Sacoolas over the accident which killed young Harry.
Sacoolas promptly escaped from the UK after the car she was driving hit Harry's motorbike outside RAF Croughton in Northamptonshire in August.
RAF Croughton houses a US spy base and Sacoolas is the wife of an American intelligence officer.
The case caused an uproar in the UK after it transpired that the Foreign and Commonwealth Office had helped Sacoolas escape British justice against the advice of the local police force which originally investigated the fatal accident.
An intense campaign by Harry’s family finally forced a reluctant Crown Prosecution Service last month to charge Sacoolas with causing death by dangerous driving.
The offence of causing death by dangerous driving can attract a prison sentence of 14 years.
The case has placed strain on UK-US diplomatic relations by revealing the extent to which Britain is servile to America.
