Iranian judoka Mahjoub strikes gold in Prague European Open 2018
Iranian judoka Javad Mahjoub has displayed remarkable athletic skills at the Prague European Open 2018 in the Czech Republic, and deservedly received a gold medal at the prestigious sporting event.
On Sunday, Mahjoub prevailed over Fedir Panko from Ukraine in his first over 100-kilogram weight class contest.
He defeated French contestant Hamza Ouchani in the next bout, and progressed to the semi-final round.
The Iranian judoka then downed the host nation’s Lukas Krpalek and booked his place in the final.
Mahjoub could overcome his strong Belarusian opponent Aliaksandr Vakhaviak in the title clash, and finished as the champion.
The Prague European Open 2018 began on March 3, and wrapped up the next day.
The tournament attracted 354 judokas from 42 nations, including Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Colombia, Great Britain, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Ukraine and the United States.
