Taiwanese artist makes 1mm resin monkey to mark Chinese Year

Preparations are underway to ring in the 4714 Chinese New Year. In Taiwan, an artist has carved a minuscule monkey sculpture out of resin to welcome the Year of the Monkey.

Chen Forngshean says he has carved the world’s smallest monkey sculpture, measuring only one millimeter at its longest edge. It even looks really small next to a grain of rice.

The monkey has a longevity peach in its hand and a curved tail. But as the artist explains, the most difficult part was the head, which is only 0.1 millimeter and that he had to carve the monkey’s eyes, nose, mouth, and ears in that space.
