President of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) is going to pay an official visit to Iran later this month to hold talks with senior Iranian sports authorities and inaugurate a project.
Riccardo Fraccari, who leads the world governing body for the sports of baseball and softball, will arrive in the Iranian capital city of Tehran on January 12, Islamic Republic of Iran Federation of Sports Associations (IRIFSA) reported.
The 66-year-old will discuss baseball and softball issues with authorities from Iran’s Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports plus National Olympic Committee on the first day of his visit.
He will then survey the facilities at Karaj Baseball Stadium, west of Tehran, before inaugurating a baseball stadium in the central Iranian city of Isfahan.
Fraccari is also scheduled to hold a press conference in Tehran on January 16 – the last day of his visit to Iran.

Meanwhile, IRIFSA President Mohammad Alipour says the WBSC is prepared to render substantial financial assistance to any country that seeks to promote the sport of baseball, but is short of equipment, facilities and fiscal resources.
Iran plan to prepare a proper baseball court to receive those financial aids from the World Baseball Softball Confederation, Alipour said.
