Concerns are growing that worse weather condition would soon hit northern England which has already been battered by record floods.

Concerns are growing that worse weather condition would soon hit northern England which has already been battered by record floods.

Forecasts say a fresh rainfall is expected to visit the North later this week.  This has made the Environment Agency issue 24 severe flood warnings - meaning there is a threat to life - for the North East and another three for the North West.

Almost 200 other flood warnings are in force in the north of England as well as the Midlands and parts of Wales.

Areas of northern England have been inundated with torrential rains in recent weeks, and rivers have crested past their banks, leading to thousands of evacuations in villages, town and even major cities like Leeds and Manchester. Thousands of people have also lost power in flood-hot areas over the past few days.

The disaster has already provoked discontent in the affected areas – particularly in the North - where the residents say the region has been overlooked in favor of London and the affluent regions surrounding the capital.

This is while Prime Minister David Cameron says the resources of the state have been equally distributed among all regions.  "We spend more per head of the population on flood defenses in the north than we do in the south," he said, vowing that expenditures would increase in the face of the increasing frequency of extreme weather events in Britain.

The flood waters have eased in many areas but disaster could hit again when more rain falls on Wednesday. The ground is heavily saturated, making the region vulnerable to fresh precipitation.
