British politician Jeremy Corbyn has become the UK's new opposition Labour Party chief after a surge in support for his anti-austerity and anti-war platforms.
Corbyn became Britain’s opposition leader with over 59 percent of party votes.
Speaking after the vote in London on Saturday, Corbyn called for a 'better society' in the UK, and vowed to help bring a better future for Britons.
He said the message from his Saturday election is that people are “fed up with the injustice and the inequality” of Britain.
Corbyn hailed "our party and our movement, passionate, democratic, diverse, united and absolutely determined in our quest for a decent and better society that is possible for all" in his speech at a party conference in the British capital.

The newly-elected leader condemned "grotesque levels of inequality" and "an unfair welfare system" in his country.
Four candidates have been contesting the vote inside the party, but Corbyn has been leading the opinion polls.
The new leader replaces Ed Miliband who resigned a day after his party suffered defeat in general elections some three months ago.
The 66-year-old parliamentary veteran’s political beliefs are close to those of European anti-austerity movements. Corbyn insists that there has to be public investment in order to boost economic growth in Britain.
Now Rodney Shakespeare, professor of economics, says the British public expect Corbyn to come up with different politics.
Corbyn’s policies include spending more on public services like schools and hospitals, scrapping nuclear weapons, renationalizing industries like the railways, according to reports.
Since 1983, he has been member of parliament for the London constituency of Islington North. He is also a member of the Socialist Campaign Group, the Palestinian Solidarity Campaign, Amnesty International, the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament and the Stop the War Coalition.
During his three decades in parliament, Corbyn has spent much of his time championing causes such as the Stop the War coalition, campaigning against the private finance initiative and supporting peace efforts in the Middle East.
He is a member of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, regularly campaigning against Israel’s wars on Gaza and ‘the Israeli Apartheid.’
Corbyn has in the past called for the participation of Hamas and Hezbollah for a settlement of the Middle East conflict and highlighted the role of Iran in the regional issues.
He has also called for the lifting of anti-Iran sanctions and the starting of a political process to decommission Israel's nuclear weapons.
He also cooperated with Press TV for a while and hosted the ‘Comment’ – a Press TV show on international issues.
