American political activist Don DeBar says Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will do everything after a report said she is asked to sink a possible nuclear deal with Iran.
“She will also do whatever the interests that control those [Republican] politicians,” he told Press TV on Friday.
“Everybody gets a check at the end of the day. That’s how American politic works,” he added.
The analyst made the comments after The Hill reported on Friday Republican lawmakers in the US Senate launched efforts to seek Clinton’s help to torpedo the deal with Iran.
Senate Republicans admitted that they probably would not get enough votes to cancel President Barack Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran unless they can swing a key Democratic figure against the agreement.
They are devising plans to tie the former secretary of state to the nuclear accord and use this to pressure her to oppose it.
Republicans need 67 Senate votes to overrule the expected presidential veto and keep sanctions against Iran in place.
“There is a natural break in the Congress between Democrats and Republicans over whether or not to make peace with Iran,” DeBar said.
Washington and its five negotiating partners are in intensive talks with Tehran to finalize a nuclear agreement by Monday.
