Thousands of Palestinian mourners have attended a mass funeral for a Palestinian man killed by Israeli forces at a checkpoint in the occupied West Bank.

The funeral of Hamad Romaneen was held in the village of Ouja near the West Bank city of Jericho on Friday evening.

The mourners also chanted slogans condemning Israeli crimes and calling for an end to Israeli atrocities.

The Palestinians also urged the international community to break its silence on Israel’s acts of violence against Palestinians.

The Israeli military claims that the man was shot and wounded after he opened fire on Israeli forces in the Jordan Valley. Israel says the man later died of his wounds in hospital.

The killing of the Palestinian man was the latest in a series of similar incidents involving Palestinians over the past months.

Last Sunday, Israeli forces shot and killed a Palestinian teenager in the al-Amud area of East al-Quds (Jerusalem).

A video footage showed the boy was killed on purpose by Israeli forces while posing no danger to the soldiers.

Another 16-year-old Palestinian boy was also targeted and killed by Israeli forces at a checkpoint in the occupied East al-Quds in late April. Israeli forces shot the boy dead while he was walking toward the al-Zaim checkpoint with his family.

Also in August 2014, Mohammed Khalil al-Anati, an 11-year-old Palestinian, was shot dead outside his home by Israeli troops near the occupied West Bank city of al-Khalil (Hebron).

According to the United Nations sources, 17 Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces and settlers across the West Bank and East al-Quds from September last year until the end of February 2015.

Human rights groups say the Tel Aviv regime continues to enforce restrictions on the freedom of movement of Palestinians in the West Bank and other occupied territories.
