Australian police have issued an arrest warrant for a 29-year-old doctor who works for the ISIL Takfiri terrorist group.

Australian Federal Police said Tareq Kamleh would be arrested on his return to Australian soil over three terrorism charges.

The charges include membership in ISIL, recruiting for a terrorist organization and traveling to and remaining in a terrorism no-go zone.

The Australian-born doctor could now face a maximum of up to 45 years in Jail.

Kamleh, who is the son of a Palestinian father and a German mother, grew up in the Australian west coast city of Perth.

He appeared in an ISIL recruitment video in April, urging Western medical professionals to join the terrorist group and describing his work in the group as a great spiritual challenge.

According to a United Nations Security Council report in March 2015, approximately 22,000 foreign extremists from 100 nations have traveled to Syria and Iraq to join the terrorist organization. The report warned that the two countries had become a ‘finishing school’ for terrorists’ education.

About 3,400 of the foreign militants in the group are said to be from Western countries.

Among the Western countries with the highest number of ISIL recruits are France, Germany and the UK.

The ISIL terrorist group has been wreaking havoc in Iraq and Syria. In the areas under its control, the Takfiri group commits heinous crimes against civilians and government forces, including persecuting ethnic minorities, sexual slavery, mass beheading and destruction of artifacts and ancient heritage sites.
