A sheriff’s deputy in San Diego County, California, has been caught on video tasering and beating a 13-year-old boy in a parking lot in the latest case of US police brutality.
Amateur cell phone footage shows the officer wrestling the boy to the ground and shocking him into submission with a taser.
Eyewitnesses, who recorded the scene, say the cop punched the boy in the face before they began filming. The incident happened on Saturday.
The deputy had repeatedly asked the teen to get into the patrol car so he could be returned to his mother, San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore said on Monday.
The teenager refused the deputy's command and then began resisting when the deputy attempted to handcuff him, Gore said. After being bitten, the deputy applied the taser to the teenager.
The teenager was handcuffed and put into the patrol car. He was then taken to a hospital for an examination before being booked into a Juvenile jail on charges of resisting arrest and assaulting an officer.
In recent years, police brutality as well as racial profiling of minorities by law enforcement agencies has become a major concern in the United States.
