Press TV has conducted an interview with Hillary Mann Leverett, a visiting scholar at Georgetown University, in Washington, and Kaveh Afrasiabi, a political analyst, in Boston, to discuss the latest remarks by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on the nuclear talks between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries.
Afrasiabi says it is time for some sort of “realism on the part of the United States and its allies” regarding Iran’s peaceful nuclear program. He also expresses hope that the Western negotiators stop making excessive demands after hearing the Leader’s remarks.
Moreover, Afrasiabi predicts that the efforts of the Saudi and Israeli officials to torpedo a prospective nuclear deal between Iran and the P5+1 will finally prove to be “futile.”
Meanwhile, Leverett says that the comments expressed by the senior US officials, including President Barack Obama, during the past month truly reveal that instead of being after a good deal with Iran, Washington has focused, first and foremost, on appeasing the pro-Israeli and pro-Saudi constituencies.
