The Golden State Warriors have won the first game of their NBA Western Conference finals against the visiting Houston Rockets by four points.

The Rockets first went up 9-2 in front of the Warriors’ fans at Oakland’s Oracle Arena on Tuesday.

But the home side came back and leveled the game through 3 back-to-back Klay Thompson jump shots.

Nevertheless, Houston stole the show in the opening quarter and finished it with 31-24. The Warriors were back in business in the second quarter and scored 34 points versus the away team’s 24 to lead 58-55 before going to the locker room.

The Rockets tried to remain close throughout the third period.

Trevor Ariza’s three-pointer from the corner, which made it 77-74, kept the Warriors 3 points adrift of Golden State who led 84-79 at the end of the frame after outscoring Houston 26-24.

Then it was the visitors' turn to hit back with star player James Harden, who leveled the game at 97 points with a fall-away shot.

Harden finished with 28 points, 11 rebounds, nine assists and four steals. But that was the closest the Rockets could get.

Stephen Curry was hot for the home team throughout the night and finished a 9-0 Warriors’ run with a three-pointer that made it 106-97 for his side. Curry had 34 points.

Golden state went on to win game 110-106 to lead 1-0 in the Western Conference finals best-of-seven series. They will host game 2 as well, which will be held on May 21.
