Houston beat LA Clippers 113-100, reach NBA Western Conference finals
In the NBA, the Houston Rockets have put the advantage of playing on home turf to good use and beat the Los Angeles Clippers 113-100 to reach the Western Conference finals for the first time since 1997.
On Sunday, the crowd at the Toyota Center saw the home team take the lead in the opening quarter, which finished 28-21 for the Rockets.
James Harden put his skills to work from the beginning and scored 31 points in the night on his way to become the game’s best scorer. For the other side, there were Blake Griffin with 27 points and Chris Paul with 26 points and 10 assists.
Houston made it a 15-point game somewhere in the second frame. But the visitors came back to trail only by 6 points. However, they still trailed by 10 when the first half finished 56-46 in the Rocket’s favor.
It was more or less the same story after the break and Houston sealed the third quarter as well, after outscoring the Clippers 29-22 to make it 85-68 before the 4th quarter began.
Trevor Ariza then sealed the series’ win for Houston with his 6th three-pointer of the night that came with less than a minute to go. The Clippers won the last frame 32-28 but that did not do anything to fix their 13-point deficit at the end of the game.
Houston will now visit the Golden State Warriors in game 1 of the Western Conference finals to be held on May 19th.
