Legendary Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has finally bade farewell to an illustrious career with the English Premier League club after more than 16 years.
On Saturday, the 35-year-old appeared on the Anfield turf one last time before moving to the United States to join the MLS side LA Galaxy.
Liverpool lost the match to the visiting Crystal Palace 3-1 but that could not change the mood of the fans, who had come to see off their beloved skipper.

Gerrard joined Liverpool when he was only nine, which began a sparkling era in his life that led to his captaincy at the club for about 12 years. His first team debut came in 1998. After that, he made another 708 appearances for the club in which he scored 185 goals.
He has been at the center of many memorable moments with the Reds but one occasion stands out. He scored the first goal for his side’s comeback from three goals down against AC Milan in the final of the 2005 Champions League. The English side went on to win the European trophy and Gerrard was named man of the match.
He has as well won two FA Cups, three League Cups, one UEFA Cup and two UEFA Super Cups during his stint at Liverpool.
The former England captain has also scored 21 goals for his country in his 114 appearances for the Three Lions, which makes him the third most capped player after Peter Shilton and David Beckham, who were on national duty 125 times and 115 times respectively.
