World must press Israel to join NPT: Commentator

A political analyst says the international community must press the Israeli regime to join the NPT and to allow inspectors into its nuclear facilities.

Press TV has conducted an interview with James Fetzer, a professor at University of Minnesota Duluth from Madison, to discuss Israel’s nuclear weapons and the role of other countries such as Germany in facilitating the production of the weapons by Tel Aviv.

Fetzer slams Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s duplicity with regards to nuclear weapons, adding that it is a ridiculous irony that Israel as the possessor of secret nuclear weapons stockpiles in the Middle East is calling for pressure on Iran because of pursuing a peaceful nuclear energy program, a program that has been constantly investigated by international inspectors.

More pressure is expected by the international community to force Israel to join the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and to allow inspectors into its nuclear facilities like any other nation, he says.
