Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian says the Islamic Republic's definite policy is to support promotion of stability and security in the Balkans and coexistence among all ethnic groups in the region.
In a phone call with his Serbian counterpart Marko Djuric on Thursday, Amir-Abdollahian offered congratulations to him over his appointment as Serbia's foreign minister.
He once more reiterated Iran's core stance on respecting national sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries.
Iran is committed to respect Serbia's national sovereignty and territorial integrity, he added.
The newly-appointed Serbian minister said his country is determined to improve all-out relations with Iran and continue bilateral cooperation in the international arena.
The foreign ministers of Iran and Serbia also stressed the need to continue talks on expansion of mutual relations and hold more consultations on important regional and international issues.
Serbia, as the most important political partner of Iran in the Western Balkans, is the only country in the region that has not followed the sanctions package of the European Union against the Islamic Republic.
