Far-right Israeli minister Ben-Gvir injured in car accident

Israel’s notorious far-right minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, has been injured as his car overturned after a visit to the city of Ramla.

Ben-Gvir was transported to hospital in moderate condition after the car accident that took place on Friday.

“Minister Ben-Gvir feels good, is conscious, and will continue to receive medical treatment at Assaf HaRofeh Hospital,” his office said.

Israeli media reports cited police as saying his car flipped over as he was leaving the scene of an alleged stabbing attack.

Central district police chief Avi Biton said a 21-year-old man, who was reportedly mentally unstable, had stabbed a 19-year-old woman, leaving her in serious condition. He added that the suspect had been trying to escape when a settler shot and "neutralized" him.

Witnesses have said Ben-Gvir ran a red light, with Hebrew media reports noting that he routinely commits traffic violations.

However, police said they are investigating the cause of the crash, and that Ben-Gvir's daughter, a guard and a driver were also injured in the collision.

Ben Gvir, who has been convicted several times for supporting a Jewish terror group and for incitement to racism against Arabs and non-Jews, was sworn in as Israeli minister of "security" in late December 2022, as part of the occupying regime’s new far-right cabinet, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
